BAnQ's name

There are two parts to the official French name of Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec – Bibliothèque and Archives –, so the institution's name, like Library and Archives Canada, is never preceded by the definite article “the”.

“Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec is presenting an exhibition. ”
“This information can be found on BAnQ’s Web portal. ”

The BAnQ initialism (or acronym)

The initialism for Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec is BAnQ. Each letter must be pronounced separately rather than grouping them together into a word; note the lowercase “n”.
